SFR 100 silicone fluid is a high viscosity silicone fluid which may be utilized in polyolefins and other plastics to impart flame retardancy. When compounded properly with a Group IIA metal organic salt and other ingredients varying degrees of flame retardance can be obtained. Processing Characteristics: When used with other flame retardants, SFR 100 can act as a synergist also improving the melt processability. This can allow higher levels of flame retardance or higher production rates. Impact Resistance: The impact strength of the SFR 100 polypropylene formulation, as measured by the Gardner impact test procedure, is significantly improved with values up to ten times those reported for current conventional flame retardant grades of polypropylene. Composition/Processing: The formulation is comprised of SFR 100 silicone fluid with a Group IIA metal organic salt in thermo-plastic resins The material is melt blended in a compounding extruder, preferably a twin screw extruder, to obtain flame resistance and impact properties. |
