SAYTEX BCL-462 flame retardant is designed for use in coating applications, such as textiles and paints. However, it can also be used in polystyrene foam (EPS) and solid polystyrene with proper processing conditions. Additional information on the use of SAYTEX BCL-462 flame retardant may be found in various Technical Bulletins, which are available from Albemarle. SAYTEX BCL-462 flame retardant is a low molecular weight cycloaliphatic containing a high level of bromine. It has the lowest melting point and highest solubility in common solvents of all of the SAYTEX flame retardants. This makes it suitable for use in solvent-borne coatings or hot-melt adhesive applications. Its very high solubility in styrene monomer and good solubility in pentane make it an excellent choice for suspension-polymerized polystyrene beads for foam applications. SAYTEX BCL-462 flame retardant in solution can be used in topical treatments for wood, textiles and other coating applications. Its high bromine content and its ability to be used without the addition of Sb2O3 make it a very cost effective flame retardant where thermal stability is not required. |
