REGAL 99I pigment black is a low structure specialty black pigment designed to impart gloss and moderate color strength in printing inks and other applications.
* Liquid Inks: REGAL 99I pigment black is very applicable in liquid inks requiring low viscosity and blue tone. It is compatible in both aqueous and non-aqueous systems for both publication and packaging applications. Its low structure imparts good gloss when printed on non-porous substrates.
* Lithographic Inks: REGAL 99I pigment black has very low vehicle demand and moderate color strength. It is used in both heat set and cold set applications. In heat set inks it imparts good gloss and color strength and excellent flow properties. Because its vehicle demand is greater than other heat set blacks, it is generally not used in very highly loaded bases. In cold set inks it imparts excellent rub resistance and excellent color strength.
The dispersibility of REGAL 99I pigment black depends on the equipment used and the formulation. It is relatively easy to disperse compared to other pigment blacks used in packaging applications, but is difficult to disperse relative to other pigment blacks used in cold set lithographic inks.
REGAL 99I is a pelleted pigment black with a typical bulk density of 28.5 lbs/ft3 (457 g/L) that can be bulk handled. It is also available in an easier to disperse powdered form as REGAL 99R.
