Quickset Extra is a clear, colorless solution of ketone peroxides in dimethyl phthalate used principally as an initiator for the polymerization of unsaturated polyester resin systems. Quickset Extra is designed to meet the demand for greater reactivity than Hi-Point 90 or Quickset Super. Quickset Extra is ideally suited for a variety of applications that involve the room temperature curing of unsaturated polyester resins and gel coats. Distinguishing features of Quickset Extra include: 1) shorter gel and cure times in typical polyester resins with no increase in peak exotherm temperatures, 2) reduced exotherms in certain resins allows use in thicker laminates or where lower peak exotherms are desired, 3) low water content which insures suitability in most critical applications, and 4) excellent storage stability and consistent lot to lot activity. The concentration of Quickset Extra is usually in the range of 0.5 to 3.0% by wt. resin with 1.0 to 1.5% typical. |
