PX-338, Trioctyl Trimellitate, is a primary, monomeric plasticizer exhibiting excellent permanence for use in polyvinyl choride resins and copolymers. When used as the sole plasticizer with polyvinyl chloride, PX-338 offers a degree of permanence characteristic of only the best commercial polymeric plasticizers. At the same time its ease of processing, compatibility and low temperature properties approach those of the conventional phthalates. Polyvinyl chloride formulations compounded with PX-338 pass the most stringent requirements for 105C. wire. The aging property, plus the excellent electrical characteristics of trioctyl trimellitate make it particularly valuable in compounds used as prime insulation and jacketing for wire and cable. Besides permanance, compatibility, ease of processing and low temperature properties, PX-338 exhibits good styrene and lacquer mar resistance along with low soapy water extraction properties. Applications such as antifogging automotive sheeting, washable film, refrigerator gasketing, window channeling and high performance moldings are suggested. PX-338 is available with bisphenol A for electrical applications and where otherwise required. |
