PX-138, Di-23 EthylHexyl Phthalate, is one of the most widely used of all vinyl plasticizers. It was one of the first plasticizers to be used with vinyl resins and remains the standard of comparison for other vinyl resin plasticizers. In vinyl resins, dioctyl phthalate exhibits an excellent combination of overall properties, such as good low temperature performance, low extraction by oil, water, and soap solutions, as well as high clarity, good heat and light stability, and permanent flexibility Vinyls plasticized with dioctyl phthalate may be processed by any of the standard means such as calendering, extrusion, dispersion coating, molding, etc. Good advantage may be taken of PX-138's generally excellent properties with other resins such as polyvinyl butyral, natural and synthetic rubber, ethyl cellulose and nitrocelllilose. PX-138 is available in a special grade for capacitor applications. |
