PX-120, Diisodecyl Phthalate, has been developed to fulfill the need for an economical vinyl plasticizer in formulations which require very low volatility and good permanence characteristics. The low volatility of PX-120 makes it particularly outstanding for use in high temperature processing cycles, especially in those involving exposure of large surface areas. Vinyl products containing PX-120 are characterized by long life and a high degree of resistance to extraction by various materials. also imparts low temperature properties comparable to DOP. Initially, plastisols prepared with PX-120 are approximately equal to those made with DOP. The plastisols prepared with PX-120 are, however, characterized by superior viscosity stability. The unique properties of DIDP are particularly useful in such applications assheeting, flooring, coated fabrics, vinyl sponge, and in extruded items such as refrigerator gaskets and shoe welting. DIDP is used extensively in electrical wire insulation and jacketing and is available for this purpose prestabilzed with bisphenol A. |
