MONARCH 1100 pigment black is a small particle specialty black pigment designed to impart very jet masstones in high performance automotive, industrial liquid and powder coatings.
* Liquid Coatings: MONARCH 1100 pigment black can be used for automotive, industrial, and architecture coatings in which high jetness is required. Its small particles provide excellent jetness and UV absorption for good exterior durability.
The dispersibility of MONARCH 1100 pigment black will depend on the equipment used and the formulation. Good dispersions will require adequate wetting in a premix of solvents, dispersants and a small amount of resin in a high-speed disperser followed by grinding in an attritor or horizontal mill with media beads. Dispersant levels required will range from 40 - 50 solids weight percent on pigment depending on the formulation.
MONARCH 1100 is a powder pigment black with a typical bulk density of 15 lbs/ft3 (320 g/L). It is also available in a less dusty pellet grade as BLACK PEARLS 1100 which would require the use of a ball mill or horizontal mill to grind. |
