Akrosorb 9675 |
Saret 500 (72%) absorbed on calciumsilicate |
Akrosorb 9675 is a 72% active dispersion of SR 500 on calcium silicate (crystalline quartz-free). SR 500 is trimethylol propane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA), a trifunctional peroxide coagent with a proprietary scorch retarder added. Because SR 500 is a liquid normally used in smaller quantities, this non-dusting, free-flowing powder aids weigh-up and batch addition. Akrosorb 9765 is a highly efficient peroxide coagent for curing of most elastomeric systems. As little as 2 phr of active material will raise the modulus and hardness as well as improve compression set resistance (essentially increasing cross-link density). Alternately, less peroxide needs to be used to reach an equivalent state-of-cure of a formula using peroxide alone. Higher levels of 9675 will continue to raise hardness and modulus while at the same time plasticizing the rubber. High hardness compounds (70 Shore D) can be made that have excellent processibility and better elastomeric properties (compression set resistance) than filler or plastic reinforced rubber. The scorch-retarded acrylate monomer in 9675 allows peroxide cures that can be transfer or injection molded due to lower viscosity and reasonable scorch times. |
