Antioxidant DQ-H is a 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline, polymerized. It is particularly useful in polymers requiring resistance to high temperatures. Antioxidant DQ-H is higher in melt point than Antioxidant DQ. DQ-H is used when extreme temperature conditions are encountered. Applications include wire and cable type processing as well as providing protection for crosslinked polyethylene. It can also be used as a copper and manganese inhibitor. Antioxidant DQ-H is extremely effective in protecting rubber products based on natural rubber, polyisoprene, SBR, EPR/EPDM, NBR and polybutadiene against oxygen and heat simultaneously. It is less suitable for polychloroprene but has a moderately strong antiozonant effect. In natural rubber, it has some anti-flexcracking properties. Antioxidant DQ-H is non-blooming but does cause discoloration and staining. Increasing amounts in polymers do slightly decrease viscosity. Increasing amounts also improve scorch resistance but increase cure time. |
