Subtilisin Synonyms: Subtilisin Carlsberg, Subtilopeptidase A, Bacterial Alkaline Protease CAS #: 9014-01-1 EC #: 3.4.21.62 Sigma's Subtilisins are produced from fermentation of Bacillus licheniformis. We offer several grades and formulations including high purity lyophilized powders as well as economical industrial grade solutions. Physical properties and Specificity MW: Subtilisin is a non-glycosylated single polypeptide chain without disulfide bonds and a of MW 27 KDa.2 Specificity: Subtilisin A is a member of the Serine S8 Endoproteinase family. It has broad specificity with a preference for a large uncharged residue in the P1 position. It hydrolyzes native and denatured proteins, and is active under alkaline conditions. Isoelectric point: pI = 9.4 E1%(280nm) = 8.6 Sedimentation coefficient: S20,w = 2.773 <> Activity Determination and Optimal Conditions Unit definition: One Sigma Unit will hydrolyze casein to produce color equivalent to 1.0 mmole (181 µ g) of tyrosine per minute at pH 7.5 at 37 ¡ÆC (color by Folin-Ciocalteu reagent)
