FIZUL MD-318 is a 35% active, clear aqueous liquid used in the preparation of emulsion polymers based on vinyl acetate monomer alone, or in combination with acrylate esters and other vinyl functional monomers such as ethylene or acrylic acid. Compared to other sulfosuccinates and many alkyl-sulfates and nonionic emulsion surfactants FIZUL MD-318 exhibits on of the lowest CMC values coupled with moderately low surface tension. In contrast to many emulsion polymer surfactants, FIZUL MD-318 shows moderate foaming characteristics. FIZUL MD-318, shows a high tolerance to calcium carbonate when compared to other commonly used emulsion polymer surfactants. The combination of these unique properties of FIZUL MD-318 results in excellent latex processing properties yielding emulsions of small particle size. In addition to the properties already mentioned, FIZUL MD-318 has excellent water solubility and shows good to excellent tolerance in polyelectrolyte media |
