Enzone
Sodium tetrathiocarbonate
73456-64-9
ENZONE is a water-soluble soil fumigant designed to manage phylloxera and Armillaria (oak root fungus) on grapes, Phytophthora on citrus, and a wide range of nematodes on grapes, citrus, and deciduous trees, bananas, and vegetables.
The active ingredient in ENZONE is sodium tetrathiocarbonate. Once ENZONE reaches the soil, the sodium tetrathiocarbonate begins to decompose, forming carbon disulfide (CS2) which is an effective soil fumigant. The gas dissipates quickly, either by evaporation or through oxidation, leaving behind only carbonates and sulfates, both of which are innocuous, naturally occurring soil minerals. Thus ENZONE performs its control of the pests rapidly, but leaves no residue to cause potential environmental harm to the crop, birds and other wildlife, or to the ground water.
