Eastman DBP
Dibutyl phthalate
84-74-2
EASTMAN DBP is a colorless, odorless liquid commonly used as a solvent and plasticizer in the chemical industry.
It is miscible with most organic solvents and insoluble in water.
DBP plasticizer is used extensively in the adhesives industry to plasticize polyvinyl acetate (PVA) emulsions.
The low viscosity and compatibility of DBP make this plasticizer ideally suited for PVA-based adhesives for bonding cellulosic materials.
DBP is an excellent solvent for many oil-soluble dyes, insecticides, peroxides, and other organic compounds.
It is used as an antifoam agent and as a fiber lubricant in textile manufacturing. It is also used in the coatings industry as a primary plasticizer-solvent for nitrocellulose lacquers.
