Picking Promoter Green 1200
Generally the factors of oxide scale(scale layer) that influence the pickling property of hot-rolled sheets include the composition of scale, the size and number of pores in scale, and the thickness of scale layer. And the factors of pickling solution that have such an influence include the kind, temperature, concentration, composition and agitating conditions of the pickling solution.
Sulfuric acid had been used as a pickling solution for general hot-rolled sheets.
However, hydrochloric acid has been mostly used since the late 1970s.
The reason is that hydrochloric acid has 1.5 times greater pickling capacity than sulfuric acid and provides good state of the surface after pickling.
In the descaling mechanism of sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, the sulfuric acid permeates into the lower layer through pores of the scale and dissolves FeO and Fe.
At this time the hydrogen gas is generated, destructs scale layer, and reduces the iron oxide.
On the other hand, hydrochloric acid begin to perform dissolution from the outside scale layer because it is more erosive than sulfuric acid.
However, if the surface corrosion of steel sheets to be pickled becomes deeper, the composition and thickness of the scale layer change and, therefore, it is impossible to obtain perfect pickling with the pickling solution.
Such bad pickling has caused many defects and difficulties in working.
Developed to cope with and solve these problems, Green-1200 completely made up for the weak points of the existing pickling solutions and guarantees 100% pickling.
