EM-40 |
Glyceryl monotailate |
EM 40 is a specially modified glyceryl monotallate and is an oil soluble, non-ionic liquid surfactant. It is an excellent emulsifier for preparing water in oil emulsions or can be used with hydrophilic emulsifiers to give either water in oil or oil in water emulsions. EM 40 is highly surface active and imparts excellent rust prevention properties to compounded oils. Solubility will vary with each source of base oil. EM 40 is soluble in many alcohols, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, including mineral oils, but insoluble in water. EM 40, because of its non-ionic nature, is ash free and will not deposit a metallic film or stain metal surfaces that are subject to annealing or heat treating operations. |
