Company Description (Introduction)
UMCOR – United Methodist Committee in Relief is the humanitarian aid and development unit of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. UMCOR is US based PVO.
UMCOR established a presence in the Republic of Georgia in 1993 initially to distribute emergency pharmaceuticals. UMCOR has continued pharmaceutical distribution through a combination of relief and development health projects.
In 1999 UMCOR/Georgia started and from 2003 local partner organization - Public Health and Medical Development Fund of Georgia (PHMDFG) continues an implementation of “Revolving Health Fund Project”. The goal of the project is to import high quality generic pharmaceuticals/medical consumables and provide to general population at an affordable price. Some portion of drugs are distributed free of charge to vulnerable people. PHMDFG is looking for new partnerships.
