ZEOMINERAL SUBSTRATES FOR GROWING PLANTS:
The zeolite substrate is obtained by a comparatively simple chemical treatment of crushed clinoptilolite rock. It ensures normal yields for several years only with water irrigation. The substrate is free of weeds, pathogenic microorganisms, etc., therfore no harmful chemicals and mechanic treatment is needed. It does not contain nitrates and nitrades. All this determines the absolute ecological purity of food products. For example, in Bulgaria, there are produced some vegetables. The time for ripening is shortened with 2-14 days. The sterility of the substrate. Its chemical and physical properties make it an ideal medium for growing high quality seedings, for rooting cell cultures and cuttings.
FERTILIZER ADDITIVE:
They also hinder the removal of nutritive materials necessary for the plants in the zeolite added soils by the irrigation of rain and they ensure the transfer of these nutrients to the plants regularly. There are many study about this subject. Clinoptilolit can add all composite fertilizer and animal manure and organic compound as turf, turba etc.
Ammonium bicarbonate is a novel chemical fertilizer and has advantages of quick efficiency, loosening soil, and prevention of plant diseases and insect pests, but also has the disadvantages of easy decomposition and serious aggregation. Because of their ion- exchange capacity and water retentivity, clinoptilolite has been exploited in the preparation of composite fertilizer (a mixture of zeolite and NH4HCO3) which overcomes the shortcomings of NH4HCO3.
