U-88 is used as an intermediate for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products such as antihistamines, electroplating, and flavorings. In perfumes, U-88 adds floral undertones of mimosa lilac and hawthorn. Due to U-88's notably high stability in soap and detergent products, common perfumery applications include soap lindenflower, limeflower tilleul, buchu leaf, cassie acacia, apres L'ondee, and soap mimosa. U-88 is also found naturally in a number of essential oils such as acacia, fennel, anise, and mimosa. It also blends well with naphthyl methyl ether, naphthyl ethyl ether, acetanisole, hydroxycitronellal and acetophenone. U-88 is water-soluble and dissolves in common organic solvents such as fatty oils, 1:7 in 50% alcohol, and 99% in a sodium bisulfite solution. |
